This is what our jersey's will look like. We need to add one more logo and that is from the company supplying the oxygen concentrators.
Excert from local newspaper misprint saying we are doing 12,000kms. They must think we are going west from Adelaide around Australia and then to Melbourne. LOL
Here is a photo of one of my inspirations behind the ride. Dr Fairbank has worked in palliative care for a number of years and demonstrates true dedication and compassion for the journey of people requiring palliative care. One can't help but be inspired to help others when you see the dedication of the people who work in palliative care. You can see our jersey from the Sydney ride hanging up in the background, might be a bit smelly by now:).
Jason Hill and I at the Hopkins Falls not long after our very heavy rains. The water was powering over the falls behind us
Photos from our Sydney 2008 ride
Day 1 of our ride. This is the Buffalo ship at Glenelg beach kinda ironic as the place where the oxygen concentrators are built is Buffalo America.
Flood waters at langhorne creek. We had quite a few river crossings on this section of the ride. Not a good feeling when you pedal to have your foot totally under water.
Photo at the Big Lobster at Kingston. Jason and myself rode ahead to go to a function at the Kingston hospital where one of the older patients took quite a liking to Jason.
Just about to leave Robe in the morning and head to Nelson via Mount Gambier. There were dolphins playing in the water behind us.we are about to leave South Australia and enter Victoria.
We are home in Warrnambool at a meeting with palliative care staff at our hospital. This is more than half way to the finish line. Only 2 days to go but they were going to be the toughest and longest days. Who planned this trip anyway???
Our welcoming committee. You can see one of the staff holding an oxygen concentrator in her hands.
Here they come.
John managed to park the bus right out front of the palliative care building. In the background is our hospital renovations.
A very tired looking Jason and Mark with the palliative care staff and district nursing and some volunteers who work with them. It was a great welcoming and one we won't forget.
